THE RYTHMICS by P Burton-Morgan and Ben Glasstone on at Southwark Playhouse, 2 Dec – 8 Jan.
December 6, 2021 |

Hapless single-dad Grey is in a rut. Teenage daughter Silva packs him off to revive his rockstar dreams, successfully auditioning for ‘Nick & the Rhythmics’ only to realise… he’s actually signed up for an All-male Rhythmic Gymnastics troupe. Against the odds these burly blokes make it as far as the World Championships – twirling their ‘ribbons of fire’ – and along the way Grey finally learns to commit to life.

Calendar Girls meets The Full Monty in this joyous new British musical.

Like the music video “Got Your Back“, created to accompany the release of the album, the full production will also feature choreography incorporating rhythmic gymnastics and sign language from Deaf Men Dancing’s Mark Smith, as well as captions throughout all performances.

There will be 6 BSL interpreted performances on December 6th, 7th, 17th, and 18th, and January 7th and 8th.

Age guidance: 11+ due to adult themes and occasional swearing, however The Rhythmics is suitable for younger children and 11+ is a general age guidance – parental discretion is advised.
