The Estate of Phoebe Frances Brown

In 2018, Phoebe received the devastating news that she had an incurable brain tumour in the part of her brain that controls speech, language and memory. Told in a brutally honest and uplifting way, ‘The Glad Game’ was directed by Tessa Walker and was co-produced by Nottingham Playhouse and Pippa Frith, Sound Design by Iain Armstrong, supported by Arts Council England, Television Workshop, The Bush and Leicester Curve.  It was developed into a film by TEA Films and Tessa Walker, which garnered notable success.

‘Hung Out To Dry’ was Phoebe’s comedy short film which she wrote, starred in and was directed by Jake Kelsall. It was commissioned by Rural Media as part of a BBC New Creatives scheme.

Her comedy troupe Major Labia were alumni of the prestigious BAFTA award winning Television Workshop and were an associate company of the Nottingham Playhouse.

Phoebe passed away in April 2022 – we are proud to say her voice lives on in the publication of THE GLAD GAME by Concord Theatricals.
