January 13, 2020 |

Directed by Neil Flynn, Mark O’Rowe’s brutally and beautifully poetic modern classic HOWIE THE ROOKIE receives a searing 20 year anniversary revival from Glass Mask. Featuring two of Ireland’s most exciting actors, Rex Ryan and Stephen Jones.

Howie the Rookie is a wild urban odyssey through a nightmare Dublin as two youths recount their intertwined stories of one fateful night. It was first performed at the Bush Theatre, London, on 12 February 1999.

‘Director Neil Flynn pumps up the emotional through-lines, never allowing the violence of the story to swamp its humanity. Neatly used lighting and subtle effects add to the elegance of the presentation. The actors make terrific connection in the intimate space of the Viking theatre…’ Independent * * * *
