Currently the trio are writing a new half-hour comedy IN THE LONG RUN. They’re also developing shows for the USA including MINNIE a comedy about the happiest fat girl in Los Angeles with Ed Helms Pacific Electric Picture Company, and 3 BAD WOMEN, a serial drama set in the rust belt of America for Stephen Garrett of Character 7.
For the big screen the trio adapted the novel WE CAN BE HEROES by Catherine Bruton which they subsequently went on to direct (Claire) and co-direct (Ian and Stu). Starring Alison Steadman and Phil Davies it premiered at this year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival gaining 5 star reviews. Commissioned from an original treatment, STEAL AWAY is their most recent feature film in development with Alison Owen of Monumental Pictures.
Claire, Stu and Ian – or CSI, if you like – met writing theatre for young people in their native Birmingham. They made their first foray into writing for television with DISMISSED, a comedy set in a Pupil Referral Unit in Walsall. The show was developed with Ash Atalla at Roughcut TV and was made into a taster tape for BBC3.
Since then CSI have created and written 3 series of THE JOB LOT starring Russell Tovey and Sarah Hadland for ITV and CARTERS GET RICH starring Kerry Godliman and James Van Der Beek for Sky One. They were also commissioned to write two episodes of DIY store sitcom TOOLS with Roughcut TV for BBC 1 which was selected for the BBC Salford Showcase, and they wrote and directed a rehearsed reading of NOSH for Sky One with Hartswood Films.
Ian lives in London with his wife Izzy and supports Birmingham City from a safe distance. Claire and Stu live in Birmingham with their two kids and love climbing the Wrekin! They spend a lot of time on Skype.
